The Guns gather around our host, who holds out a clutch of silver straws. One by one, we grasp an end pluck it forth, and read the number. It will be a number from 1 to 8 (in my case, 1) and denote the peg, or the position you'll take in the shooting line the first drive of the day. It also deals your hand for the rest of the day, since on drive two you will move up two places, and two more on the drive after that.
