Fast and Fun

Clay Shooting

Starting in June, Blixt & Co opens our clay shooting season. From fast paced simulated shoot days to the sporting clays course, our clay shooting options are designed to provide wide variety for all shooters. We also offer a range of clinics, both on Blixt Shooting Properties as well as in host venues.

SPORTING CLAYS

The new sporting clays course at Twin Peaks, winds through a shaded aspen grove. The 12 station course presents a variety of game style targets and a host of challenging options. Relax with a packed lunch after a round of clays in the hammocks nearby!   You can book the course on a half day or full day basis. You could come with a group of friends or as an individual. The “rental” of the course includes all targets and access to the facilities, and we would be glad to provide a trapper / guide if needed.   You can also become a “Clay Member” and join the Blixt & Company Shooting Syndicate. This will grant you access to the sporting clays course during the summer, as well as give you full access to all our scheduled Simulated Days and any other social events during the summer.

SIMULATED SHOOTING

At Blixt & Company, our summer simulated days replicate the excitement and rapid-fire pace of a Traditional Driven Shoot.  Unlike five-stands or clay courses, Simulated Shoots mimic the unpredictable nature of live birds by providing guns with varying and simultaneous flight patterns.  Some clays fly high overhead while others dart in fast-paced crosses.  Some clays fly in pairs or triples, while others speed by in succession.  Our unique style affords the guest an opportunity to experience this dramatic and challenging tradition in a less-formal environment.

A Simulated day not only captures the sporting aspect of Driven Shooting, but the hospitality as well.  In the mid-morning, guests are treated to “Elevensies,” a traditional English break in any gentleman’s day.  A gourmet Field Lunch is prepared and served in the comfort of our spaciously elegant safari tent, and the day comes to a close with cool refreshments.  Guests are transported throughout the property in our take of the customary shoot day vehicle, the Gun Bus.

The schedule of the day follows the Driven Shoot model with multiple drives in three unique locales.  Guests arrive at nine o’clock at a central meeting place and are ferried to the shooting site.  A break for nibbles occurs around eleven o’clock followed by more shooting and lunch.  After relaxing in the shade of an aspen grove, the guns are once again transported to the field for a full afternoon of excitement.  We wrap up for cold beers and tall-tales around the four o’clock hour, and guests depart at their leisure.

INSTRUCTION

Our professional shooting instructors will help all levels of shooters to increase their skill in the art of game and clay shooting. Blixt & Company offers a number of services from private lessons, to courses that are tailored for a specific purpose, such as driven game shooting or quail shooting.

In all cases, the Percy Stanbury method of shooting education is utilized, which was established at the West London Shooting School, and honed over the last century. Blixt & Co.’s educational services can be called upon at any time — regardless of personal experience or location.
